RICHMOND, Va. – The Hampton University track teams opened their outdoor seasons this past weekend at the VCU Invitational held at Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond.

Five second place finishes highlighted the weekend for the teams. In the discus, Corneisha Mitchell took second for the women with a throw of 133-4 and Michael Crockett took second for the men with a throw of 134-0. Ayana Culhane took second in the women's javelin with a toss of 126-6.

In the relays, the women's 4x100 and 4x400 teams took second place finishes. On the 4x100, the team of Tiara Robinson, Mallory Pitchford, Meshala Morton and Jaelen Leonard took second in 47.62. For the 4x400, the team of Alysha Evans, Morton, Erin Morrison and Sashana Hinds ran 4:00.07 to take second.

Next up for the teams will be the Raleigh Relays March 24-25 at North Carolina State University.
