HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton Lady Pirates used another fourth-quarter comeback on Saturday afternoon and held off visiting Florida A&M 66-65 in a key Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference matchup at the HU Convocation Center.

After trailing by four with seven minutes left in the fourth, Hampton used a 10-2 spurt to take a 63-59 lead on a triple by Monnazjea Finney-Smith with 4:12 left. De'Ayra Davis tied the game up for FAMU with a pair of free throws and a layup with 2:51 left at 63-all.

K'lynn Willis hit a jumper with 72 seconds left to put Hampton back up 65-63, but the Rattlers tied the game with 21 seconds left on a pair of free throws by Shai Burney-Robinson.

Each team missed opportunities to take the lead, but Jephany Brown rebounded FAMU's miss and went 1-of-2 from the line with seven seconds left. The Rattlers had one chance after Brown's free throw but were called for an offensive foul which gave Hampton the ball and 1.1 seconds left. Hampton dribbled out the clock to take the win.

Willis scored 20 points to lead three in double figures for Hampton. She added seven assists, five steals and four rebounds. Finney-Smith had 14 points, while Brown added 11 and seven boards. Mikayla Sayle just missed a double-double with nine points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

Burney-Robinson was high for Florida A&M with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Shakeyrra Morrison added 13 points and seven boards. Davis and Florence Ouattara chipped in with 10 apiece.

Hampton returns to action on Monday night with a key MEAC matchup against league-leading Bethune-Cookman starting at 5 pm in the Convocation Center.
