
WOMEN FINISH FIFTH AT GEORGE MASON INVITE

Leesburg, Va. – The Hampton University women's cross country team finished fifth at the George Mason University Invitational on Saturday morning.
The Lady Pirates finished with 134 points, 24 points ahead of Big South opponent, Longwood University.
Pollyanna Velasco had a time of 26:21.6 to finish in 29th place, followed by Asia Johnson's time of 26:25.3 to corral 30th position.
Zuri Rashad was the next Lady Pirates to cross the finish line as her time of 26:56.8 secured 35th place.
Shakeria Johnson (27:02.1) notched 37th position as Tea Foster (41st – 27:13.8), DeVonya Brown (46th – 28:14.6), and Gabrielle Chenault (56th – 33:34.0) rounded out the HU ranks.
Hampton travels to the Pirate Invitational, hosted by East Carolina University, on Friday, October 12.
