HAMPTON, VA- The Hampton University Men's Lacrosse team dropped Saturday's contest to the University of Richmond 20-5.

The Pirates dip to an overall 0-6 record, 0-1 in conference play.

Hampton's senior goalkeeper
Paxtin Powell (Bradenton, FL) had a stellar performance, recording a single-game personal best, tallying 31 saves in the contest

Richmond scored less than a minute into the opening quarter off a goal from Dalton Young assisted by Dunn. The Spiders managed to jump out in front of the Pirates 3-0 midway through the first quarter.

Hampton got off to a slow start, but the Pirates made adjustments, positioning the team to make it a single-point game after
Ethan Mitchell (Elicott City, MD) scored Hampton's first goal assisted by
Jayden Price (Pearland, TX).Â

Less than 15 seconds later, the Pirates struck again with an unassisted goal from
Ian Groom (Washington, DC).Â

Despite the Pirate's fight, Hampton did not have an answer for Richmond's attack. The Spiders went on a 7-0 run before Hampton was able to land another goal at the mid-way mark in the second quarter from
Derian Williams-Sturdivant (Baltimore, MD).

The first half ended with the Pirates trailing the University of Richmond 13-3.

Both teams got off to a slow start in the second half of action; Richmond scored their first goal of the half at the 7:30 mark. Hampton responded at the 4:46 mark with a goal by
Miles Fawcett (Piedmont, CA).Â

Hampton was outscored 7-2 in the second half, earning the Pirates final goal of the game was Price assisted by
Andre Myers (Frederick, MD).Â

The Pirates return to action on April 9
th at Mercer University in Macon, GA, at noon.Â
