HAMPTON, VA- On April 9th at Hampton University's annual Honors Day ceremony Softball senior Lauryn Brooks was 1 of 5 recipients to receive the President's Cup Award. 

All seniors who are eligible to participate in the May 2022 graduation ceremonies and who have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above were invited to submit for the President's Cup Award. Each nominee submitted a resume, their unofficial transcript and a well-conceived paper or project of their choosing that addressed the theme: Building Character during Times of Change.

Lauryn has been a dedicated student-athlete that exemplifies Hampton's standard of excellence on and off the field. The Bowie, MD native has become a force to reckon with for the Lady Pirates playing at outfield. She recently recorded a personal season-high of four putouts against Campbell.

She will graduate in May with a degree in Biochemistry, she currently holds a 3.69 GPA on pace to graduate Magna Cum Laude.

"We are proud of Lauryn and her unwavering commitment to academic success and extracurricular involvement," said head coach Monique White. "To receive this award is admirable, but to do so while also balancing the rigorous demands of being a student-athlete, is an extraordinary achievement. She deserves it."

Lauryn is one of nine seniors that will be honored on May 7th for Senior Day as the Pirates host Charleston Southern for their final series of the season.
