HAMPTON, VA- The Hampton University Men's Basketball team will travel to Africa to play in the inaugural Ballin in the Bush HBCU Hoops Safari Classic in Johannesburg, South Africa, August 2-9, 2022.
The Bridge Elite Global Foundation sponsors the event, and the games will be broadcasted on ESPN Africa on Sunday, August 7
th, 2022.
The Pirates will play a series of games at Ellis Park Arena in Johannesburg during their trip to Africa, including contests against national teams.

"I am grateful to be at the helm of a program that provides our student-athletes with infinite opportunities to play this game in different settings and at every level of collegiate competition," said head coach Edward "Buck" Joyner. "It's exciting for us to witness them ultimately experience all the possibilities that this world offers at such a pivotal time in their lives."
The students will enjoy a week of South African history, excursions, networking, and professional development opportunities.

NBA Hall of Fame Player Jumaine Jones, HBCU motivational speaker Les Brown, and other former NBA players will be in attendance throughout the week to interact with the participants.
