HAMPTON, VA … Hampton women's track & field standouts Dieusi Armand (Triple Jump), Dejah Grant (400m/400mH), Nya Harmon (Shot Put/Discus), Maya Hanks (Long Jump), Jordan Mozie (800m) and Kayla Spencer (400mH) will join Dugion Blackman (800m) and Jahiem Stern (110mH) from the men's track & field team at the 2023 NCAA East Region Preliminary Qualifiers. The University of North Florida will host the event in Jacksonville, Fla. from May 24-27.
In all, 53 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) student-athletes qualified for the region preliminaries. Hampton boasted the most qualifiers on the women's side with six competing in a conference-best seven events. Two Hampton men qualified for the NCAA event, as well.
In addition to the East Region action, the West Region will be take place in Sacramento, Calif. The top 12 performers from each region will advance to the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships from June 7-10 in Austin, Texas.
