Hampton Softball Coach Monique White Resigns

HAMPTON, Va. (May 6, 2024) … After three seasons with the program, Monique White, Head Softball Coach of the Lady Pirates, has decided to resign.

Coach White's tenure as a Lady Pirate began in the 2022 season. During her tenure, White's teams posted a record of 51-102. However, the team celebrated several milestones under her leadership.

The Lady Pirates capped off their 2024 season with a 4-3 victory over Towson, finishing with a 17-35 overall record. Despite the challenges, the season was sprinkled with significant achievements. Notably, Hampton University secured its first-ever CAA series win against the Charleston Cougars. The season kicked off on a high note, with Angelina Branch becoming the program's first in-season award winner, named Rookie of the Week. Additionally, two other student-athletes received in-season awards, showcasing the team's growing talent and potential.

Director of Athletics Anthony D. Henderson, Sr. expressed gratitude for Coach White's unwavering dedication to the student-athletes. "Coach Monique White has been an exceptional leader for the young women of Hampton University Softball," he remarked. "We are deeply appreciative of her contributions and wish her well in her future pursuits."

With Coach White's departure, Hampton will immediately embark on a national search for a new Head Coach.
