Lady Pirates Place Fifth at Season Opener Hosted by East Tennessee State

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug. 30, 2024) … Hampton University women's triathlon team opened up the 2024 season at East Tennessee State this afternoon. The field consisted of five teams and 34 competitors.

Hampton placed fifth with 45 points only 19 behind Northern Kentucky. The hosts East Tennessee State narrowly finished first over Lenoir-Rhyne. Niya Buckner with a time of 26:54.00 led the Lady Pirates and placed 27th. Jordyn Bryant was close behind her teammate Buckner with a time of 29:08:00. Bryant placed 29th out of the field only two spots behind Buckner. Michelle Morgan had a time of 33:15:00 and Diamond Williams wrapped up the list of competitors for Hampton.

Hampton returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 8 at the Patriot's Triathlon in Williamsburg, Va. The race is slated to begin at 7:00 a.m.
