NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (September 13, 2024) Freshman
Peninah Mutisya crossed the finish line in first in the women's 6k at the CNU Invitational on Friday evening at Lee Hall Mansion.
Mutisya finished with a time of 21:13.28, a career-best. She is the first Lady Pirate to win an individual title since Alexia Phifer in 2019 at this same meet.
The women placed fourth with 117 points. Up next, was
Jordan Mozie in 19th (23:23.93) and
Kylee King in 37th (25:03.32) who also earned career-bests.
Mekayla Wilson placed in 41st (25:18.41) and
Angel Moultrie notched a career-best in 45th (25:53.00) to wrap up the scoring for Hampton.
On the men's side,
Khalid Hamid crossed first in the 8k for the Pirates in 30th (26:58.82). Freshman Mohammed Al-Yafee grabbed 32nd place with a time of 27:02.09.
Nellie Ambriton placed in 59th (28:34.06).
