RICHMOND, Va. (Nov. 24, 2025) … The Coastal Athletic Association announced its weekly Women's Basketball award winners on Monday afternoon and junior guard Kayla Lezama earned Co-Player of the Week honors.
 

Lezama, a native of Boston, Mass., recorded career highs of 19 points, three 3-pointers made and had a season high of three steals as the Pirates defeated Norfolk State 57-55 in the Battle of the Bay on Friday night.
 

Her steal and layup with under a minute left put Hampton up 57-49 as the Pirates held off a frantic rally from the Spartans to snap a 28-game home court winning streak for NSU.
 

On the season, she is averaging 9.5 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
 

Hampton hosts Delaware State on Monday night at 7 p.m. and will then embark on a five-game road swing starting with a pair at the Puerto Rico Clasico on Thursday against Stephen F. Austin and on Saturday against Buffalo.
