Mutisya School Record 3000 Meter Win Highlights Penn State National Open

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (Feb. 1, 2025) … Freshman Peninah Mutisya obliterated her previous school record in the women's 3000 meters with a dramatic finish to lead the Hampton University indoor track and field teams at the Penn State National Open this weekend.
Mutisya, who earlier this season broke the record with a 9:32.02 at the Penn Open, ran 8:59.092 on Saturday in the invitational race to edge out Joy Nakuot of West Virginia by four one-thousandths of a second as she ran 8:59.096.
The new mark for Mutisya gives her the top time in the CAA by 27 seconds and is 14th best nationally.

- Kylee King finishing eighth in the 600 meters in 1:37.56
- Jordan Mozie taking seventh in the 800 meters in 2:06.79
- Rochele Solmon finished fourth in the shot put with a toss of 15.11meters (49-7) which was a personal best.
- Nya Harmon also took seventh in the shot with a toss of 14.43 meters (47-4.25)
- The men's 4x400 relay team of Justin Anderson, Ibrahim Abdalla, Nellie Ambriton and Mohammed Al-YaFee took second in 3:14.35
- Deondre McIntosh was eighth in the 200 meters running 21.98
