Track and Field Teams Start Outdoor Seasons At Raleigh Relays Thursday

HAMPTON, Va. (March 26, 2025) … The Hampton University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams open their 2025 seasons this weekend at the Raleigh Relays held at the Paul Derr Track Complex at North Carolina State.
Hampton is coming off a successful indoor season that saw the women's team capture the first Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) title in school history, winning the championship in Virginia Beach on February 2. That event came down to the 4x400 relay which the Pirates took second to lock up the team crown. On the men's side, the Pirates took fifth in the CAA Championship.
The Raleigh Relays begin on Thursday with Hampton participating in the shot put events for men and women along with the men's 1500 meters. Friday will see the sprints for men and women, the 5000 meters for women and field events consisting of discus, high jump, triple jump, and men's pole vault. Saturday will have the 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, 400 meter hurdles, and the 4x400 relays for both, along with the hammer throw, long jump, and women's pole vault.
The meet consists of over 200 teams and nearly 3,500 entrants.
