TOWSON, Md. (Feb. 3, 2026) … The Hampton University men's lacrosse team fell to NJIT on Tuesday afternoon 22-8. Darius Stanley led the way for Hampton with three goals, while Reed Shaw added two of his own. 

NJIT used a huge first half to take control of Tuesday's non-conference matchup. The Highlanders scored nine first quarter goals, with five coming before Stanley got the Pirates on the board courtesy of a pass from Shaw. 

Hampton responded quickly in the second quarter, when Shaw and Anthony Bardonille Jr. netted goals within the first four minutes of game play. After a response from NJIT, Shaw netted his second goal of the afternoon to bring the game within six at 10-4 with 8:40 left in the first half. 

The Highlanders quickly regained momentum scoring three straight goals to take a 13-4 lead into the break. Hampton's lone goal in the third frame came with 7:00 left on the clock when Stanley scored second goal of the day. 

NJIT scored eight of the games final 11 goals to eventually take down Hampton. Stanley completed his fourth career hat trick in the fourth quarter when he scored with 12:28 remaining in the afternoon.

Hampton returns to action for their first home game of the season at Armstrong Stadium when they play host to Detroit Mercy on Feb. 14. The game is slated to start at 12:00 p.m.
