Pirates Open CAA Play at Fairfield

HAMPTON, Va. (Mar. 12, 2026) … The Hampton University men's lacrosse team continues its road swing with a CAA game against Fairfield Saturday.

LAST MEETING:
Fairfield won last year's matchup 29-4 inside of Armstrong Stadium, while holding a 3-0 all-time record against the Pirates. 

ABOUT HAMPTON:
Maliik Wood (18), Anthony Badonille Jr. (15), and Darius Stanley (10) have all recorded double digit goals on the season for the Pirates through six games. Bardonille Jr. has also registered a team high eight assists, as James Greene has added six of his own. Wood and Badonille Jr. recorded nine of the team's 12 goals last weekend at Mercyhurst. 

The Pirates have shared the wealth on the offensive side this season, as 11 different players have scored a goal. Amare Ford (7) and Judah Johnson-Nixon (5) have been key on the defensive side as they have recorded a total of 11 caused turnovers, while Miles Lancaster has started in the net every game for Hampton, averaging 15 save per game. 

ABOUT FAIRFIELD:
The Stags enter Saturday's contest with a 3-3 record on the season. They have defeated Lehigh, Manhattan, and Providence on the year. Fairfield currently averages 11.57 goals per game, while allowing just 11.85 per contest. 

Devin Lampron leads the team with 14 goals, while Will Consoli (13) and Jake Gilbert (11) have each scored 10 goals or more. Consoli and Gilbert lead the team with nine assists each. Julian Radossich has a team high 20 caused turnovers on the season and Owen Hirsch has started every game in net for the Stags defense.

Last season, Fairfield posted a 12-3 record, while going 5-2 in CAA play. 

CREAM OF THE CROP 
Maliik Wood currently ranks second in the CAA with a goals per game average of 3.00 while Anthony Bardonille Jr. is fourth in the league with 2.50. Bardonille Jr. also ranks third in assists per game with 1.33 and second in shots per game at 10.33. Miles Lancaster ranks first among all goalies in the CAA with 15.00 saves per game. 

FIRST YEAR LEAP
Vincent Culpepper is leading the Pirates to massive leaps in year one. Hampton is currently averaging 9.6 goals per game after just 4.8 a season ago. The Pirates have already scored eight goals or more in five of the six games after only accomplishing that feat twice a season ago. 

RE-WRITING HISTORY
Anthony Bardonille Jr. became the first Hampton Pirate to receive a major weekly award by the CAA on Feb. 23, winning CAA Rookie of the Week. The freshman from Washington, D.C. posted four goals and three assists against VMI. He has recorded two hat tricks in four games this season, and currently leads the team in assists. 

MARCH MADNESS
The Pirates will play four games in the month of March, all coming on the road, tallying 2,033 total miles. The month will start with a trip to Mercyhurst followed by Fairfield, Queens (N.C.), and Monmouth. 

UP NEXT:
Hampton continues its road swing when they travel to Charlotte, N.C. for a game with Queens on Mar. 21. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m.
