WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (Mar. 28, 2026) … The Hampton University men's lacrosse team dropped a conference game against Monmouth Saturday morning 20-10. The 10 goals scored by the Pirates was the most in a conference game in school history, while Anthony Bardonille, Jr. tied a school record with six goals in the game.
The Hawks jumped out to an early 6-0 lead Saturday before Bardonille Jr. recorded two goals in the final three minutes of the first frame to get the Pirates on the board. Bardonille Jr. then capped off his 3-0 scoring run to start the second quarter with 14:44 remaining to make the game 6-3.
From there, Monmouth took control of the game ripping off a 9-0 run that extended from the 10 minute mark in the second quarter to 13:01 remaining in the third frame.
Hampton continued to battle in third as they scored four straight goals with Bardonille Jr. beginning the rally with his fourth goal of the afternoon before Howard Casterlow scored two straight to cap the run. Bardonille Jr. added two more in the fourth quarter, while Casterlow added one to complete his first hat trick of the season with 00:05 remaining.
Bardonille Jr.'s six goals ties Hampton's all-time record for goals in a game with Elliot Johnson vs. Chowan in 2018 and Lonnie Jones vs. Bethany (W.Va.) in 2019. His six goals are the most in a game against a NCAAD1 opponent in school history. This marks the fifth time this season that he has scored three goals or more in a game. Bardonille, Jr. now has 26 goals on the season which equals the school record set by Pierce Johnson in 2018.
