NORFOLK, Va. (Apr. 1, 2026) … The Hampton University men's tennis team fell to rival Norfolk State Wednesday afternoon 5-0.
Norfolk St. earned the first point of the match when they defeated Hampton in doubles at the two spot and three spot due to a forfeit. Kohei Konishi and Benedict Mwanza fought in the two spot for the Pirates, but eventually fell 6-4.
In singles, the Spartans earned a win at the six spot after Hampton forfeited. The Spartans then rattled off wins in the three, four, and five spots to take down the Pirates 5-0. Rafael Padilha lost the first set in his match 6-2, before leading 3-2 in the second as it went unfinished due to the Spartans clinching.
