Pirates Battle Seawolves in Season Finale

HAMPTON, Va. (Apr. 23, 2026) … The Hampton University lacrosse team returns to action Friday when they play host to Stony Brook for their final game of the 2026 campaign. 

Hampton dropped last weekend's game at Hofstra 20-5. Anthony Bardonille, Jr. broke the school's single season record for goals scored, netting his 27th in the third quater. Maliik Wood added two goals on the afternoon to bring his total to 25, one goal away from the previous record of 26. 

LAST MEETING
Stony Brook won last year's meeting 28-6. Canyon Steverson scored a goal in the game, while Jadon Meyers recorded an assist. 

ABOUT HAMPTON
Freshman Anthony Bardonille, Jr. leads the Pirates with 27 goals on the season, while Maliik Wood (25) and Darius Stanley (13) each have 10 goals or more on the year. Wood and James Green have each dished out a team high 10 assists on the season. Hampton has scored 98 goals on the season after scoring just 72 a season ago. Six Pirates have scored five or more goals on the season. 

In the net, Hampton is led by Miles Lancaster's 178 saves on the season, where he currently ranks first in the nation in saves, and saves per game. He is seven saves away from breaking the school record of 184 saves in a season, which is previously held by Ben Kieu in the 2025 season.

Judah Johnson-Nixon leads the team in caused turnovers at 11 which is the ninth most in the CAA. His 11 caused turnovers is the most by a freshman in the conference. 

ABOUT STONY BROOK
The Seawolves enter Friday's contest with a record of 7-5, while bolstering a 3-2 CAA record. Collin Williamson leads the team in goals with 30, as Justin Bonacci adds 23. Kian McCoy has 15 goals to go along with a team best 19 assists. 19 different Seawolves have scored a goal this season. Stony Brook has scored 143 goals on the season. 

Tommy Wilk has started all 12 games for the team this year, registering 148 saves. He has a .529 save percentage on the season and has allowed just 132 goals. Will Birney has a team best 10 caused turnovers, Robbie Smith leads the team in face-offs at 157. 

Wilk has won CAA defensive player of the week three times this season, while the team has won seven weekly awards in 2026.

TWO-HEADED SNAKE
The duo of Maliik Wood and Anthony Bardonille Jr. have been the Pirates main offense this season as the two have combined for 52 of the teams 98 goals on the season. Bardonille Jr. broke the schools record for goals in a season last weekend, while Wood is one goal away from tying that record. They each rank top 10 in points in a season, shots on goal, and goals in a season. Bardonille Jr. is a freshman, while Wood transfered into Hampton from St. Joesephs. 

THERES A NEW SHERIFF IN TOWN 
Anthony Bardonille, Jr. broke the Hampton University all-time record for goals scored in a season when he deposited a goal in the third quarter at Hofstra last Saturday. In addition to breaking the school record, he also tied the record for most man-up goals in a season at seven. He is also four points away from breaking the record of points in a season. 

TEAM OF THE YEAR
The men's lacrosse team was honored at the "Team of the Year" at Hampton's end of the year award ceremony earlier this week for their efforts in the community as well as for their support of other athletics teams on campus. Connor Dansby was recognized as the male athlete with the highest GPA in the athletics department.
