HAMPTON, Va. (Aug. 21, 2026) … Second year head coach Vincent Culpepper has hauled in the 37th ranked recruiting class per Inside Lacrosse.
The Pirates rank first in the CAA, recording a league best six three-star recruits. Those recruits include; Bryson Dickens, Trey Johnson, Grayson Jones, Cole Parham, Grant Stephenson and Chance Williams. Parham is the younger brother of Hampton's midfielder Owen Parham who appeared in seven games for the Pirates a year ago.
Thirty-seventh is the highest the Pirates have been ranked in the Inside Lacrosse rankings in school history, having moved up 35 spots from last seasons 72nd rank.
"We are incredibly excited about our 2027 recruiting class. To have this group recognized as the top recruiting class in the CAA is another sign of the momentum we are building here at Hampton. These young men believe in our vision, believe in what Hampton University has to offer, and most importantly, believe in Michael Crawford's dream of elevating the game of lacrosse at Hampton University. They are coming to Hampton with one goal; to SHOCK THE WORLD!", said head coach Vincent Cullpepper. "I also want to give a tremendous amount of credit to Coach Burke, Coach Matthews, and Coach Collins for the work they put into building this class. Recruiting is about relationships, and all of them have invested countless hours identifying young men who fit Hampton, building relationships with them and their families, and sharing the vision we have for this program. This recognition is a direct reflection of their hard work, commitment, and belief in what we are building together," he added. "Finally, the decision of these young men to become Pirates would not be possible without every man who made that same decision before them. Our 2027 class isn't the beginning of the Hampton Lacrosse story, they are the next chapter. A new generation of builders who will help us take the next steps as a program and continue to build the legacy of Hampton Lacrosse."
Hampton looks to improve on last season in which they saw improvements in goals scored, goals against average and assists from the season before. Freshman, Anthony Bardonille Jr., broke the schools single-season goals record with 29 goals, while Miles Lancaster set the record for saves in a season with 195.
