Pirates Open Season in Riley Cup

HAMPTON, Va. (Sept. 11, 2026) … The Hampton University sailing team is set to begin its fall schedule at the Riley Cup this weekend in Norfolk, Va.

Makalynne Dyer is set to lead the Pirates in her second season at the helm, returning four players from last year, while also adding 12 newcomers.

A year ago, Hampton placed 11th in the Riley Cup to start their season. This season, there are 18 teams set to race, with six schools being from Virginia.
