Two Top Ten Finishers Lead Men's Cross Country To Third At CNU Invite

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (Sept. 18, 2026) … The Hampton Pirates men's cross country team finished third on Friday night at the CNU Invitational held at the Lee Hall Mansion course. Hampton amassed 58 points as Virginia Union won the event with 31 points and host CNU was second with 50.
Khalil Hamid had his second top finish for the Pirates as he topped the team with his third place showing as he covered the 8k course in 26:39.1. Mohammed Al-YaFee joined him in the top ten with a sixth-place finish in 27:22.9.
A third Pirate runner joined them in the top 20 as Dominic Bassey was 17th in 29:28.0. Xavier Jemison was 24th in 30:43.2, while Bryce Mays was 30th (31:49.3) and Jordan Dones was 36th in 34:25.5.
Hampton will run next on October 2 in Mechanicsville in the Richmond Spider Invitational.
