Cross Country Competes Friday At Richmond Invitational

HAMPTON, Va. (Oct. 1, 2026) … The Hampton University cross country teams will return to action after a two-week break to compete in the Richmond Invitational hosted at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville on Friday morning.
The men's 8k race will begin at 9:08 a.m., while the women's 6k race will start at approximately at 10 a.m.
A total of 20 teams will compete in the event over the same course that Hampton opened its season on Sept. 5 as the women took seventh and the men were 11th at the Spider Alumni Open.
Peninah Mutisya has won both races for the women thus far this year, while Khalid Hamid was the top finisher in both races for the men. Hampton will next run in the CAA Championships in Bethpage, N.Y. on Oct. 30.
