Hampton Drops Match to Elon

HAMPTON, Va. (Sept. 25, 2026) … The Hampton University women's volleyball team dropped their series finale with Elon Friday afternoon 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-14).Â
The Pirates struck first in set one on an Elon error, followed by a kill from Nikola Jaroszewicz, as Hampton led early. The two sides then settled in, trading points, before Elon rattled off a 8-0 run to hold a 16-10 lead. Hampton responded with another kill from Jaroszewicz to halt the Phoenix run, but it was ultimately Elon taking set one 25-20.Â
Elon raced out to a 3-0 lead to start set two, before Hampton responded with three straight of their own courtesy of an attack error and kills from Katerina Pappa and Jaroszewicz. The two sides then exchanged points for the early parts of the set with Elon leading 11-9. The Phoenix then reeled off three straight before an Olivia Bryant kill which brought the score within four at 14-10. Elon quickly responded with a 6-3 run, and used that momentum to take set two, 25-18.
The Phoenix jumped out to a 16-2 start to begin the third set, capped off by a Pirates error. Hampton fought back late in the set, ripping off a 6-0 run capped by a Racquel Frazier kill to cut the Elon lead to 18-10. The Phoenix responded quickly and eventually took down the Pirates in set three 25-14 to win the second match between the two sides.Â
Freshman Olivia Bryant and Frazier led Hampton with six kills on the match, while Ana Luiza Caminha Matos recorded 14 assists. Maria Clara Andrade registered double digit digs with 12 while Aliyah Millner added a team high four blocks on defense.Â
UP NEXT:
Hampton returns to action, Wednesday, Sept. 30, when they play host to rival Norfolk State. The match is set for 6:00 p.m. inside the Convocation Center.Â
