Pirates Host Spartans Wednesday Night

HAMPTON, Va. (Sept. 29, 2026) … The Hampton University volleyball team is set to host Norfolk State in a rematch Wednesday night inside the Convocation Center. The Spartans took version one between the two sides on Sept. 2 at Norfolk State in a 3-2 (22-25, 25-17, 19-25, 28-26, 8-15) thriller.Â

Hampton leads the all-time series over Norfolk State 44-19, while the Spartans have won the previous six matches dating back to 2023.
SUNSHINE STATE STANDOUT:
Sophomore, Racquel Frazier was named to the Florida A&M Tournament Team after her efforts against FIU, Louisianna and FAMU. Over the course of the three matches, she recorded 31 kills to go along with 10 digs in the tournament. This marks the second time Frazier has made an all-tournament team after being recognized as a freshman in the Hampton Tournament.Â

The Pirates return to action Friday, October. 9 when they travel to Charleston to take on the Cougars in two matches. The first match is set for 6:00 p.m. with match two on Saturday starting at 2:00 p.m.

- Hampton enters the match after dropping two matches to Elon over the weekend.Â
- Racquel Frazier and Katerina Pappa have each hit the 100 kills mark with 136 and 109 through 13 games, while Nikola Jaroszewicz adds 97 to round out the top three. Frazier ranks eighth in the CAA in kills, while also being ninth in points with 159.5.
- Ana Luiza Caminha Matos leads the Pirates in assists on the season with 273, ranking seventh in the CAA, while Belen Ferrufino adds 81.
- Lillian Campbell has 30.0 blocks on the season, leading Hampton, while Jaroszewicz (23.0) and Aliyah Milner (18.0) bolster 15 or more.Â
- Hampton has played a five-set match three times in 2026 after doing so just once in 2025.
- The Pirates currently rank sixth in the CAA in service aces, while Frazier and Campbell rank ninth in the league with 17.Â

- Norfolk State enters Wednesday night having lost two matches over the weekend to Morgan State and Coppin State.Â
- Gabrielle Gilbert leads the Spartans with 179 kills on the season, while Kyleigh Moore adds 119. Gillbert's 179 kills ranks first in the MEAC.Â
- Jazeli Vandenburgh ranks first in the MEAC with 29 service aces, while also leading the Spartan defense with 181 digs, which ranks second in the conference.Â
- Jasmine Mataira (203) and Nehir Erimez (189) split duties as the team's setter, as they each have more than 180 assists on the year.Â
