Sports Medicine

MISSION STATEMENT

The Hampton University Sports Medicine Program strives to provide the student-athletes with the upmost quality health care. In doing so, the sports medicine staff is devoted to providing top-quality care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses to out student-athletes while maximizing athletic performance and ensuring that their best interest is our top priority. The sports medicine program is dedicated to creating an environment that promotes the total wellness of the student, the athlete, and the person.

The purpose of the Sports Medicine Program is four-fold. First, we hope to allow easy access to sports medicine services for the student-athletes. Second, we hope to encourage a philosophy of sport that places a high value on health and wellness. Third, we hope to enable injured student-athletes to return to their sports as soon as they are medically safe. Finally, we hope to be able to substantially reduce the risk of athletic injury for those student-athletes in our services. The Hampton University Sports Medicine Department works under the guidelines of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA), Hampton University, and the Department of Athletics.
