Dwyan Luckey joined the Hampton coaching staff in 2026 as the last piece of the puzzle on Head Coach Van Malone’s inaugural staff. Luckey will be charged with mentoring the Pirate’s tight ends as well as supervising special teams.
 
Luckey comes to Hampton after working at LaGrange when he coached special teams and wide receivers. In 2025, the Panthers finished with a 10-2 overall record and a perfect 7-0 mark in USA South Conference play. LaGrange advanced to the NCAA Division III Playoffs winning its first-round game.
 
Luckey spent time in both the high school and college ranks. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Western Carolina from 2011-13 and at North Carolina A&T from 2013-14. He was an offensive assistant at Catawba from 2014-15 before working as an assistant at Limestone in 2015. Luckey returned to the high school ranks as an assistant coach at Cabarrus (N.C.) High from 2016-17.
 
Luckey moved to Virginia Union from 2017-18 where he served as running backs and tight ends coach in addition to working with the team’s special teams before returning to his alma mater, Concord (N.C.) High from 2018-19.
 
After three seasons at Mississippi Valley State, he worked with the Carolina Panthers under Head Coach Matt Rhue as part of the NFL Bill Walsh Fellow program in 2022. Luckey joining the coaching staff at Eastern Kentucky as an offensive assistant. During his time at Eastern Kentucky, he mentored running backs Braedon Sloan and Joshua Carter to top-60 rushing totals in the FCS. The Colonels finished ninth in the nation in total offense. He worked as Charlotte in 2024-25 as an offensive analyst.
 
Just prior to joining the Pirate coaching staff, he was selected by the NFL to coach in an All-Star game in Yokohama, Japan helping bridge the gap between American and Japanese football.
 
Luckey also gained valuable experience as recruiting coordinator and camp director while at Mississippi Valley State.
