HAMPTON, Va. (Nov. 1, 2026) … Senior Mattie Edozie scored off a long feed by Meriem Mihoubi in the 68th minute as Hampton and William & Mary played to a 1-1 on a sunny Sunday afternoon at Armstrong Stadium on Senior Day.
A physical first half saw the Tribe hold a slim 6-4 advantage in shots, but neither team could find the back of the net.
William & Mary (4-7-5, 3-3-3) got the first goal on the board at 54:31 when Mia Abbey converted a penalty kick after being taken down inside the 18-yard box.
Hampton (4-13-2, 0-8-1) pushed the action and was able to convert the equalizer as Meriem Mihoubi sent a ball forward and Edozie ran it down and lofted a 25-yard shot over the outstretched arms of Gwen Doughty to level the match at 1-1 at 67:16.
Both teams threw everything at each other in the final 23 minutes, but both Doughty and Hampton goalie Avery John kept the teams at bay with key saves.
On the night, Hampton was outshot 11-8 by the Tribe but held a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.
The tie was the first for the Pirates in CAA play in program history, and the goal was the first time Hampton scored against William & Mary also in program history. The game was the first on campus for Hampton since Oct. 23, 2019.
