VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Oct. 28, 2026) … A rare first-half explosion from Hampton women's soccer team on Wednesday as they scored four first-half goals helped propel the Pirates to a 6-0 win over Regent at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex.

Junior Nylah Jennings scored the first two goals and in the process broke the career goals scored record as she now sits with 13 goals. The previous mark was 12 by Sydney Jackson from 2015-18.

Jennings tied the mark off a long feed from Jayda Sutton as she darted around one player and found the back of the net at 24:43. The record breaker came 96 seconds later as she came down the right side and pushed it past a diving goalkeeper at 26:19 for a 2-0 advantage.

Gositang Motshegwe connected with Safiya Dean for the third marker at 41:35 and then Kennedy Williams played beat the halftime horn as she was on the receiving end of a Mattie Edozie push to give Hampton a 4-0 lead with six seconds left in the half.

Hampton (4-13-1) got on the board twice in the final 45 minutes as Sutton recorded her second helper finding Alvine Dah-Zossu at 52:40 and Nuria Alejo Cardenas connected with Edozie for the final tally at 65:06.

On the game, Hampton held a 38-3 margin in shots and 20-1 in shots on goal. The 38 shots equal the second most in a game in program history, while the five assists are tied for second most in a game in history. The four road victories are also a school record for most road wins in program history. Heading into the contest, Hampton had scored 15 of its 19 goals in the second half of matches.

The Pirates will close out their 2026 season on Sunday afternoon with a noon first-kick against William & Mary inside Armstrong Stadium. This will be the first game on campus since the end of the 2019 season.
