Bio
Junior Lewis is a highly accomplished diamond sports professional, coach, trainer, mentor, and international camp director with nearly two decades of experience spanning playing, coaching, athlete development, and mental skills training. His career has been built on a foundation of competitive excellence, education, discipline, and a commitment to developing athletes both on and off the field.
A standout player in New Jersey, Lewis established himself within a respected high school baseball program, earning recognition as a Freshman All-American. He continued his collegiate career at Bergen Community College, where his performance earned him All-Garden State honors and ultimately a scholarship opportunity to continue playing Division I baseball at Grambling State University in Louisiana.
His professional playing career extended from 2014 through 2017, during which he received invitations and earned roster opportunities within professional baseball, including the Can-Am League, American Association, and Atlantic League. These experiences provided him with invaluable insight into the demands of professional athletics, competition, preparation, discipline, and what it takes to pursue excellence at the highest levels.
Following and throughout his playing career, Lewis transitioned those experiences into athlete development and coaching. With more than a decade of experience in training, development, and coaching, he has worked with athletes ranging from youth players to collegiate and professional athletes, as well as Olympic-level competitors. His approach combines technical instruction, physical development, mental performance, discipline, confidence, and the life skills necessary to succeed beyond sports.
In 2019, he founded Black Belt Baseball, establishing a platform dedicated to developing the complete athlete. Through Black Belt Baseball, he has created training programs, clinics, camps, and development opportunities designed to help athletes maximize their physical abilities while strengthening their mental approach, character, leadership, discipline, and understanding of the game.
He is also proud to be part of the Player Alliance and the Major League Baseball RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) program, supporting initiatives that create greater opportunities and access to baseball and positive youth development within communities.
Lewis has served as an international camp director and instructor, working throughout the United States and internationally in the Caribbean, including the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. His camp and development work has provided opportunities to collaborate with and instruct alongside some of the most recognizable names in baseball, including MLB stars such as Bobby Witt Jr. and Baseball Hall of Famer CC Sabathia, along with many other professional athletes such as AJ Andrews, Aleshia Ocasio and accomplished coaches.
His expertise extends beyond physical baseball instruction. Lewis places a strong emphasis on mental skills development, helping youth, high school, collegiate, and professional athletes develop confidence, focus, emotional discipline, resilience, accountability, preparation, and the ability to perform under pressure.
Today, he continues to expand his impact through Black Belt Baseball and his work throughout the Diamond Sports community. His mission is bigger than developing better athletes—it is about developing better people. Through physical training, mental performance, mentorship, leadership, and life-skills development, Junior is committed to creating opportunities and helping the next generation reach their potential both in sports and in life.
Junior Lewis represents the belief that athletic development is not simply about how well you play the game—it is about who you become through the process.
