HAMPTON, Va. (January 17, 2024) – The Pirates will have five women compete in the pentathlon and one man in the heptathlon at the upcoming 4th Annual Brant Tolsma Invitational on Thursday and Friday. The meet will be hosted by Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.
Junior
Anissa Bernard, sophomores
Emmani Shaw and
Carson Moore, and freshmen
Nina Pitt and
Danielle James will be competing in the women's pentathlon.
Floyd Tucker will perform in the men's heptathlon.

The pentathlon kicks off tomorrow with the 60m hurdles at 11:00 AM. The 60m will be the first event in the heptathlon and will start at 12:45 PM.
Last Week's Meet (HBCU Showcase)
The women's team won the meet with 115 points and the men finished 5th.
Field Highlights
Abria Smith broke the Hampton women's indoor shotput record and won the event with a distance of 15.20m. She was named the Most Outstanding Female Athlete of the Meet.
This was 0.2m more than
Oluwatomilayo Akintunde's record set at 15m last week at the VCU Invitational.
Track Highlights
Dugion Blackman won the 500m race by more than a second at 1:02.75, which is 7th fastest in the country. Freshman
Leo Davis crossed the line first in the 800m and set a new meet record (1:53.25).
On the women's side,
Jordan Mozie set a meet record in the 1600m, winning with a time of 5:02.23. In the 800m,
Kayla Spencer raced to the finish line in 1st (2:13.88). The 4x400m squad set a new meet record after finishing 1st in 3:48.61.
