Hampton Sailing Set to Compete at America Trophy

HAMPTON, Va. (April 19, 2024) … Hampton University sailing is set to compete at the America Trophy hosted by SUNY Maritime College. This weekend's regatta will also be the MAISA Conference Championship. In the last time the Pirates competed at the America Trophy, they placed 16th back in the 2021-22 season.Â
Coach Allesandro Ambrosi's squad has won three consecutive regattas. In their last time out, the Pirates finished first at the Grant Trophy. The Grant Trophy was Hampton's first home regatta in five years. The field consisted of 10 teams racing in the beautiful Chesapeake Bay. While strong winds suspended racing on Saturday, the Pirates won eight out of the 10 races. Hampton finished 15 points ahead of Christopher Newport.Â
