HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University volleyball team will take on the Lady Hawks of Maryland-Eastern Shore Friday evening at 6 p.m. at Holland Hall. Fans are encouraged to come to the game wearing pink to show their support for breast cancer awareness.
The Lady Pirates (3-21, 1-1 MEAC) are coming off a thrilling five-set win over Coppin

State last Sunday. Freshman Mianna Armstrong (Lomond, Alberta) led the way with a double-double, recording 17 kills and 11 digs.
Adriana Vazquez (Rio Grande, Puerto Rico) also had 11 digs.
Maryland-Eastern Shore will come into the contest with a 15-7 overall record, following its 3-1 loss to University of Delaware on Wednesday. The Lady Hawks are a perfect 2-0 in conference play. Christine Edwards is averaging a team-high 3.44 kills per game for UMES, while Whitney Johnson is averaging 3.36 per contest.
Hampton will hit the road on Sunday, traveling up to the nation’s capital to take on Howard in another MEAC contest. That match will begin at 2 p.m. The Lady Pirates’ next home match will be Friday, Oct. 17, against Morgan State at 6 p.m.
