ACADEMIC SUPPORT/LIFE SKILLS PROGRAM
It is the ongoing mission of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to provide quality services to all student athletes. Various programs and services are offered to our student athletes to assist them in successfully making the transition from high school to college to graduation.
Academic Advising - Student athletes are required to meet with the athletic academic advisor at least once a semester. Services offered include; course selection, class scheduling, degree program assistance and priority registration.
Tutoring - Free to all student athletes, all tutors are screened and trained by the Office of Academic Support. Tutoring is optional but could be mandatory for at-risk student athletes.
Technology - Student athletes have access to an 18-station computer lab. This lab is for student athletes only and is open Monday thru Friday 8 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Success Skills - Workshops offered include study skills, note and test taking, writing and grammar skills and time management skills.
Study Hall - Student athletes must complete at least 6 hours of study hall each week. Attendance is required for all freshmen during their 1st year. All student athletes must maintain at least a 2.50 overall grade point average to be released from study hall.

Academic Progress Monitoring and Reporting - Academic progress is closely monitored each semester. Grades and missed class time are closely tracked several times a semester and reported to coaches throughout the academic year.
Assistance for Special Academic Needs - Provisions are offered for those students with a documented learning disability. Services are optional, however, for student athletes it is highly recommended as a proactive approach to achieving academic success.
Post-eligibility Programs - The services we provide are designed to guide our student athletes from their freshmen year to graduation. Student athletes who have exhausted eligibility still have access to our services.

(S.A.I.L.L.S.) program is modeled from the NCAA CHAMPS/ Life Skills program. This program is designed to provide for the "total development of the student athlete through athletics, academics, career development, personal development, and community service."
