WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Hampton University senior Krystle Medlin paced three Lady Pirates Saturday morning in the NCAA Division I Cross Country Southeast Regional Championships hosted by Wake Forest University by finishing 139th.
Medlin (Raleigh, N.C.) ran a 23:34.80 over the 6K course. Jasmin Branch (Hampton, Va.) ran a 24:24.70 to finish 183rd, while Jahlisa Smith (Plainfield, N.J.) finished 221st with a time of 26:01.80.
This was Smith’s second straight year competing in the NCAA regional meet; in 2007, Smith finished 125th in the Southeast Regional in Louisville, Ky. with a 22:56.35.
Tasmin Fanning of Virginia Tech took the individual title by running a 20:07.80, while the University of Virginia won the team crown with 105 points. The top two teams and top four individual finishers automatically advanced to the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships, which will be held Monday, Nov. 24 in Des Moines, Iowa.
