NEW ORLEANS, La. – Five Hampton University track & field athletes were nationally ranked by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Wednesday. It was the association’s first national ranking by event of the indoor season.
Reggie Dixon and Predist Walker were nationally ranked in the 200-meter dash a

nd 60-meter hurdles, respectively. Dixon (Plainfield, N.J.) ran a 21.18 in the Penn State Invitational and sat 23rd in the country, while Walker (Suffolk, Va.) ranked 19th in the nation after his 7.87 in the 60-meter hurdles at the same meet.
Freshman Petrice Richards (Manchester, Jamaica) ran a 7.44 in the 60-meter dash at the Hampton University Invitational, a time that’s 25th-best in the nation. Junior Francena McCorory (Hampton, Va.) is 13th in the country in the 400-meter dash after her 54.03 at the Penn State Invitational, and sophomore Racquel Vassell (Irvington, N.J.) ran an 8.37 in the 60-meter hurdles at the Virginia Tech Invitational, ranking her 30th in the nation.

Both the Pirates and Lady Pirates will be in New York City Friday and Saturday for the Armory New Balance Collegiate Invitational, a meet in which over 110 colleges and universities will compete.
