Results: Men | Women
NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Hampton University men's track & field team finished tied for 10th in the team standings of the 2012 New Balance Collegiate Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Armory Track & Field Center.
The Pirates finished with 22 points, tying Duke for the 10th position. Texas A&M won the team crown on the men's side with 85 points.
Senior
Reggie Dixon (Plainfield, N.J.) ran a 6.63 in the finals of the 60-meter dash championship race, finishing in second after turning in a time of 6.64 in the preliminary heats. His second-place effort matched the Pirates' best finish of the weekend.
Sophomore
Je'Von Hutchison (Boynton, Fla.) ran a 1:04.37 in the 500-meter dash college race to come in second, while the Pirates came in second in the 4x200-meter relay championship race with a time of 1:26.85.
The Pirates also finished third in the 4x800-meter relay championship race, thanks to a school-record time of 7:32.47. Hampton's distance medley relay squad ran a 10:06.92 to finish fourth in the college race.
Freshman
Mohamed Labor-Koroma (Chantilly, Va.) ran a 1:04.50 to finish third in the 500-meter dash college race. Freshman
Corrin Harris (Dumpass, Va.) came in sixth in the long jump college event with a mark of 6.45 meters.
The Lady Pirates tied for 19th in the women's team standings with Long Island, totaling 10 points. Clemson took the women's team championship with 93 points.
The Lady Pirates turned in the team's lone event title of the weekend by taking gold in the 4x200-meter relay championship race, running a 1:36.69.
Junior
Casaundra Bouldin (Bowie, Md.) ran an 8.66 in the 60-meter hurdles college race, finishing tied for third. Sophomore
Breana Norman (Virginia Beach, Va.) was in the championship race in the 60-meter hurdles, turning in a season-best 8.53 in the preliminary heats.
Freshman
Cassandra Jones (Norfolk, Va.) ran a season-best 1:14.17 in the 500-meter dash college race to finish third, while sophomore
Cydney Robinson (Portsmouth, Va.) came in sixth in the 400-meter dash college race after running a 56.56.
Sophomore
Teiara Denmark (Virginia Beach, Va.) jumped 5.67 meters in the long jump college event to come in ninth, and senior
Ermesha Fair (Chesapeake, Va.) came in 10th in the college triple jump with a season-best mark of 11.72 meters.
The Pirates will return to action on Saturday, when they return to New York, N.Y. for the Millrose Games at the Armory Track & Field Center. The Lady Pirates will be off until the 2012 MEAC Indoor Track & Field Championships in Landover, Md. on Feb. 17-18.
