NORFOLK, Va. – The Hampton University women's tennis team finished an opening weekend at Old Dominion University taking on the host Lady Monarchs and fell 5-2 on Sunday afternoon.
In doubles, the hosts took the team point by winning both contested matches 6-1 at lines one and two.
The singles saw Hampton get a point early by
Caira Walker by default at line six. Â
Cherise Slocombe got the win at line two singles as her opponent retired by injury in the second set.
The Lady Pirates are now off until February 16 when they start Big South action at Presbyterian at 10 am.
