SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Senior Luke Thompson earned the team point for Hampton with a win at line two singles on Sunday as the men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 match to USC Upstate.

Thompson won at line two in singles over Francisco Neto as his opponent retired in the third set to give Hampton its lone point in the match.   In doubles, the Pirates lost 6-3 at line one to lose the doubles point.  Charles Hudson and Fernando Fernandes were tied 4-4 at line two when the doubles point was clinched.
 

Hampton returns home to face Campbell on Monday at 2 pm.
