CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced its 2020-21 Big South Presidential Honor Roll today and Hampton had a school record 207 student-athletes recognized by the league. Student-athletes were recognized for having a 3.0 GPA or higher over the past school year.
Hampton had 69.7% of its student-athletes for the year recognized, which is the most in its Big South tenure. The Pirates were one of nine schools to have at least 60% of its student-athletes make the list.
"With almost 70% of our student-athletes recognized by the league today, that is an outstanding mark in an unusual year being completely virtual. I want to congratulate all of our honorees for continuing The Standard of Excellence," said Hampton University President Dr. William R. Harvey.
Hampton had 30 student-athletes earn Commissioner's Award distinction for having a 4.0 GPA or higher. Another 49 were Gold Award scholars with a GPA of 3.75-3.99, while 53 were honored as Silver Award winners with a GPA of 3.5-3.74.
"I wish to congratulate all of our student-athletes honored today by the Big South Conference," said Hampton University Provost Dr. JoAnn W. Haysbert. "They continue to show how we want our student-athletes to be, strong in the classroom as well as in their respective sport."
