Hampton University wide receiver Jadakis Bonds Invited to Play in East-West Shrine Bowl
HAMPTON, Va. -- Hampton University standout wide receiver Jadakis Bonds has been invited to play in the 2023 East-West Shrine Bowl on Feb. 2 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The Shrine Bowl is considered one of the top college all-star games ahead of the NFL draft.
"First of all, I want to thank the East-West Shrine Bowl for inviting Jadakis Bonds to this event," said Hampton University head coach Robert Prunty. "It's a great opportunity for him to display his talents in front of NFL scouts."
Bonds, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound senior, leads the Pirates (4-6) with 44 catches for 787 yards and nine touchdowns this season. The previous two seasons, he had 114 receptions for 1,816 yards and 21 TDs. The Pirates season finale is Saturday at Towson.
He is one of the most prolific wide receivers in Hampton Football history. Bonds holds both the single season and career touchdown records as well as the career receptions record. He was named first team all-conference in 2019 and also received All-American honors. He is set to graduate this coming spring.
The East-West Shrine Bowl is the longest-running college all-star football game in the nation. An important part of America's football tradition, the event gives top college players a chance to showcase their talents to NFL scouts and a national television audience. This year, the East West Shrine Bowl is part of the NFL's Pro Bowl Week events in Las Vegas, Nevada.
For more than 90 years, some of football's greatest athletes and coaches have contributed to the tradition of the East-West Shrine Bowl. Players like Tom Brady, Walter Payton, Lawrence Taylor, John Elway, Gale Sayers and Jimmy Garoppolo, played in the East-West Shrine Bowl along with coaches Don Shula, Dick Vermeil, Paul "Bear" Bryant and Jerry Glanville, to name a few, have supported the East-West Shrine Bowl.
