Box Score 2 Hampton, VA. – Hampton Men's Tennis picked up their fifth victory of the season in a strong doubleheader finish Wednesday afternoon, defeating Norfolk State twice.
The Pirates picked up game one, where it left off Friday, April 8, after Senior Day was suspended due to inclement weather.
Game 1 Score: Hampton 6 - NSU 1
How It Happened:
In doubles play, Hampton was able to take a 1-0 lead with wins on courts two and three; Grad student
Cliff Dwyer (Oracabessa, Jamaica) and Sophomore
Donte Armbrister (Nassau, Bahamas) teamed up for a 6-2 win while Juniors
Jeremiah Williams (Windsormill, MD) and Daud Gnatt-Bey (Washington, DC) clinched the doubles point with a 6-0 victory.
Moving on to singles play, the Pirates were dominant, taking all but one court cruising to a 6-1 victory. Dwyer was the first to finish with court two, winning 6-4, 6-3. Senior
Fayzullokhon Mavlyudov (Samarkand, Uzbekistan) followed suit with a 6-2, 6-2 win on court three. Armbrister won court four for Hampton, 6-0, 6-0. Williams also won 6-0, 6-0 on court five, while Gnatt-Bey picked up the last win of the match 6-0, 6-0.

How It Happened:
In game 2, the Pirates won two doubles matches to capture the doubles point. At number two doubles, Hampton's Grad student
Cliff Dwyer (Oracabessa, St. Mary, Jamaica) and Sophomore
Donte Armbrister (Nassau, Bahamas) secured the first spot with a 6-0 win. Juniors
Jeremiah Williams (Windsormill, MD) and Daud Gnatt-Bey (Washington, DC) captured the doubles point on court No. 3 with a withdrawal by NSU.
In singles play, Hampton swept all singles matches to collect the overall victory. No. 1 singles set three was left unfinished after Freshman
Ange-Kevin Koua (Quebec, Canada) took sets one and two 6-3, 2-3. Armbrister also had an unfinished victory on court four, taking sets one and two 6-0, 2-0. Court five and six ended in withdrawals by NSU to give the Pirates the win.
The pirates will return to action on Friday, April 15, 2022, at home against Norfolk State for their final game on the schedule.
