Hampton, VA–Pirate's Women's Tennis split matches against Norfolk State Wednesday afternoon, including a makeup match from April 8^th.
 
The Lady Pirates finish the season 2-12 overall, 1-7 in conference play.
 
Game 1 score: Hampton 4 - NSU 3
How It Happened:
 
The Spartans claimed an early lead in doubles play, sweeping all three courts.
 
The Pirates secured their first victory in singles play when Senior Viktoria Ljungman (Torekov, Sweden) won her three-set match 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 on court No. 1.
 
Down by one, Junior Laura Peralta (Bogota, Columbia) delivered a victory for the Pirates at No. 5, finishing the match up 6-4,4-0 before stopping.
 
On court No. 5, Junior Keri Quillin (Atlanta, GA) defeated McMorris in a three-set match 6-1,4-6,6-0 to tie the score.
 
Freshman Zoe Walker (Washington, DC) secured the win for the Pirates in her two-set match 6-2, 6-0 on court No. 6.
 
The win moves the Lady Pirates to 2-11 with just one more non-conference match left on the schedule.

How It Happened:
 
Junior Laura Peralta (Bogota, Columbia) and Freshman Zoe Walker (Washington, Dc) battled at the No. 1 doubles flight but fell 6-4 to Amber Fuller and Aleksandra Evdokimova.
 
Seniors Milena Amedieva (Samarkand, Uzbekistan) and Viktoria Ljungman (Torekov, Sweden) boosted the Pirates, taking Court No. 2 doubles 6-0, but the Spartans clinched the No. 3 doubles match 6-0, earning doubles point.
 
 
In singles competition, Hampton dropped three singles matches in a row on courts No. 1 6-1,6-0, No. 2 1-6, 7-6, 10-6, and No. 3 7-6 6-3.
 
Junior Franzene Tsui (Port Moody, British Columbia, Canada) scored a big victory at the No. 4 position, topping her opponent 6-2, 6-2. Hampton also claimed flight 5 by Junior Keri Quillin (Atlanta, GA) 6-1, 6-2 and flight 6 by Walker 6-1,6-4.
