Hampton University basketball standout
Marquis Godwin has been invited to play in the HBCU Basketball All-Star Game on Saturday, April 22 at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio. The 6-5 guard averaged 12.4 points and 2.6 rebounds per contest last season. A senior, Godwin started all 32 Hampton games last year. A transfer from Old Dominion University, the Hampton, Va., native shot .402 from three-point range and .880 from the free throw line.
The game raises funds for HBCU scholarships. Several other events are scheduled around the all-star basketball game. In addition to an afternoon pregame party and a college career and community fair, fans can attend the Greater Columbus Basketball Legends Hall of Fame induction ceremony prior to the game as well as a post-game concert featuring the Isley Brothers.
