FORMER HAMPTON SID JIM HEATH TO BE INDUCTED INTO APPRENTICE SCHOOL HALL OF FAME

Former Hampton sports information director Jim Heath will be inducted into the Apprentice School Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, Sept. 29, 2022, the school announced.
 
A 1992 graduate of Christopher Newport, Heath worked in the sports information office at his alma mater under CoSIDA Hall of Famer Wayne Block. He joined the Apprentice School staff in 2000 and served as fulltime SID for 15 years. 
 
A native of Hampton, Va., he worked in the Hampton sports information office for two years before being promoted to SID in 2017. Heath helped promote the first HBCU to field a Division I men's lacrosse team and played a role in Hampton's move from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) to the Big South and eventually to the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).
 
He moved on from Hampton to and was named associate director of athletics communications at Old Dominion in 2021.
