RICHMOND, VA. … The Colonial Athletic Association announced the recipients of the Team Academic Excellence Awards for the 2022-23 academic year.

Hampton earned the Team Excellence Award for the academic performance of its softball team this past season.

The Team Academic Excellence Award recognizes the institution with the highest collective grade point average in all 22 sports sponsored by the CAA. The team GPA is a calculation of the grade point average of each student-athlete who appeared on an institution's roster throughout the final day of their respective championship seasons during the 2022-23 academic year.

Eleven different schools had at least one team receive a Team Academic Excellence Award.

The Team Academic Excellence Award winner in 14 of the 22 sports recorded a team grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
