HAMPTON, Va. (Feb. 14, 2024) – The Pirates were defeated by the Longwood Lancers 4-3 in this afternoon's home match. This was the first match the men had hosted since the 2021-22 season.

Hampton won three singles matches and one double match.

Doubles

Emiliano Jorquera and Daniel Flynn made quick work of Alejandro Hernandez and Timeo Puech 6-0. They are now 2-0 as a doubles team. Donte Armbrister and Aryan Arora fell against Peter Belosevic and Alejandro Uribe 6-3. Shine Tokas and freshman newcomer Benjamin Mwanza were defeated by Luis Reis and Seva Rusin 6-2.

Singles

Flynn won the first singles match by forfeit. Jorquera and Puech fought back in forth in a thriller that finished in favor of the Lancers (6-4, 5-7, 7-6).  Armbrister followed with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Belosevic to hold a record of 4-1 this season. Tokas fell in two sets against Uribe. Arora grabbed the third point for the Pirates with a defeat of Meschini 6-2, 6-3. Arora moved to 3-2 in singles play. Mwanza lost in straight sets to Reis.
