RICHMOND, Va. (Dec. 9, 2025) …Hampton University men's indoor track and field sophomore Joseph Ernest was named the CAA Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon

Ernest, a sophomore from Sterling, Va., lept his way into the top six nationally by winning the Penn Open triple jump with a personal best 15.38m (50"5.5'). That leap was his first over 15m indoors and is sixth best in the nation currently.

This is the second weekly award for Ernest this calendar year as he won on February 11 after taking top honors in the Penn Classic in the triple jump.

Hampton will be back in action on January 9 at the VCU Invitational in Virginia Beach and the Rod McCravy Memorial in Louisville, Kentucky.
