HAMPTON, Va. (April 29, 2025) … Hampton University recognized its top athletes and teams at the annual Night of the Pirates Awards Ceremony on Monday evening, April 28 at the Hampton Convocation Center.

Virginia Hansom served as the master of ceremonies for the event which included an Invocation by Rev. Jerome Barber and opening remarks by Director of Athletics Anthony D. Henderson Sr.
Hampton's seniors were honored in a video presentation and each coach reflected on the highlights of the past season.
Women's cross country and track standout
Peninah Mutisya was honored as Hampton's Pirate Athlete of the Year.
The women's track & field team was recognized as Team of the Year after winning the Coastal Athletic Association's (CAA) indoor championship, the first Hampton title as a member of the CAA.
Priscilla Michel (women's track & field) and
Madisyn Strange (soccer) shared highest grade point average honors among women while
Quinlan Coryat (lacrosse) had the top GPA for the men.
