About The Game
- Towson will celebrate Homecoming on Halloween when the Tigers take on Hampton.
- It will be the third time the two teams have tangled with all three games being played in Towson.
- Hampton's 2026 Homecoming was on Oct. 24 when the Pirates fell to nationally-ranked Monmouth in the first game back at Armstrong Stadium after a $3.2 million facelift which included new artificial turf and a new track surrounding the field. In addition, the field was expanded to allow the Pirate women's soccer team to play its home games on campus for the first time in years.
- The game will mark the third time Hampton has traveled to the D.C.-Baltimore-area this season. Previously, the Pirates played Maryland (Sept. 5) and Howard (Oct. 3).
- Both teams rely on the passing game. The Pirates average 105.0 ypg on the ground and the Tigers manage 91,5 ypg rushing.
- Senior defensive end Korede Sogbesan has been nominated for the CAA's prestigious Chuck Boone Leadership Award. A first-team preseason All-CAA pick by the league's coaches, nominees represent the highest standards of teamwork, integrity, leadership and sportsmanship in their academic and athletic achievements.
- Beginning with the contest at Towson, Hampton plays three of its final four games of the season on the road (at Towson, at Elon and at Stony Brook). The lone home contest is versus longtime rival North Carolina A&T on Nov. 14.
Scouting the Tigers
- Towson (0-8, 0-4) welcomes Hampton (1-7, 0-4) for Homecoming.
- The Tigers boast the league's top pass defense (177.6 ypg) allowed and the second-ranked passing offense (268.3 ypg). Yet Towson is 12th (of 13) in points allowed (24.8 ppg).
- Quarterback Andrew Indorf is the CAA's second-leading passer with 257.0 ypg. He has 15 TDs passes and has suffered five interceptions. His favorite target is Andrew Interline, who averages 5.5 cpg with nine touchdowns.
- On defense, defensive back TJ Sands is 10th in the CAA in tackles (8.1) and linebacker Seth Chestnut ranks 18th (7.0).
- Pete Shinnick was the head coach at Azusa Pacific (53-22 record), UNC Pembroke (50-24), West Florida (56-21) and is in his fourth season at Towson (18-25).
Scouting the Pirates
- Offensive coordinator DJ Boldin has been forced to use three quarterbacks in eight games. Starter Jalen Woods suffered an injury on Sept. 12 against Bryant and has not been cleared to return. He completed 57.8 percent of his passes.
- Mobile Tre'Von Taylor throws for 110.0 ypg playing all eight games and starting four with six TDs and five picks. True fresh-man Xavier Brookins earned the starting against Monmouth last week and averages 85 ypg while completing 54 percent of his passes.
- Fifth-year defensive back Cam Sturdifen is the CAA's fourth-leading tackler (7.3 tpg) and has two forced fumbles to lead the Pirate defense. Safety Qwae Willis (5.8 tpg) and Anthony Hightower III (5.3 tpg) anchor the young Pirate defense.
- The Hampton defense has yielded just four touchdowns and 47 first quarter points in the first eight games of the season.
Hampton starts November at Elon on Nov. 7 for a 2 p.m. kick against the Phoenix.
