2011 JUNIOR SEASON
Started in all 11 games for the Pirates… was second on the team with 108 total tackles (including a team-high 52 solo stops)… recorded a season-high 14 tackles (eight solo) at Norfolk State on Oct. 15… added 13 tackles at Old Dominion (Sept. 17) and against Delaware State (Nov. 12)… led the Pirates with 14.0 tackles for a loss of 49 yards… had 2.0 tackles for a loss of nine yards against Howard on Nov. 5… recorded 3.0 tackles for a loss of eight yards against Delaware State… forced two fumbles at Norfolk State… recovered a fumble against Morgan State on Nov. 19… intercepted two passes against Delaware State, including a 43-yard touchdown… had two quarterback hurries on the season… defended eight passes and broke up six others… named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 14.

VIRGINIA TECH
Made five starts in 12 games in 2009, recording 53 total tackles (seventh-best on the team) on the season to go along with five quarterback hurries… had seven tackles that season against Virginia… led the team with eight tackles against Tennessee in the Chik-fil-A Bowl… started all 13 games in 2010, recording 66 tackles (34 solo) and 2.0 sacks… had five tackles against Florida State in the ACC Championship Game before leaving with a shoulder injury.

SALEM HIGH SCHOOL
Played football all four years… named Defensive Rookie of the Year as a freshman… named First Team All-Beach District as a sophomore, junior and senior… named Beach District Defensive Player of the Year in his junior and senior seasons… was also named All-Eastern Region both seasons… led Salem to district titles as a sophomore and junior, while the team won the regional title in his junior season.

Born July 5, 1990… son of Vernetta and Lyedell Gibson… has one brother, Lyedell Jr. (25)… nicknamed Lynnie… was featured in The Virginian-Pilot… majoring in business management… wants to be drafted into the NFL.
